Garnavillo-- Malinda (Heiderscheit) Maiers, 94, of Garnavillo, died Sunday, Feb. 19, 2012, at the Guttenberg Care Center. She was born the daughter of Nicholas and Emma (Meyers) Heiderscheit on Feb. 12, 1918, in Holy Cross, Iowa.

Malinda received her education at St. Mary's Catholic School in Guttenberg, Iowa. She was married to Leonard Maiers on Oct. 3, 1945, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Guttenberg, Iowa, and to them three children were born. She and her husband worked together for Kist Bottling Co. in Garnavillo, Iowa, for many years. She was a longtime member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Garnavillo, Iowa, where she was first director of Religious Education for over 20 years. She was also very active in other church areas.

Malinda enjoyed sewing, reading, quilting, and was known to "live" in her kitchen, where she was able to make up a plate for anyone who stopped by her home at any time.

Malinda is survived by her three children, LeAnn (Ron) Bries, Lorna Moser and Larry Maiers; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild; one sister, Mary Jean Langel, and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and two brothers, Cyril and Merlin Heiderscheit.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Garnavillo, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
