Cedar Rapids-- Geraldine M. Schmelzer, 57, of 1615 Park Towne Court NE, wife of Dennis Schmelzer and a Cedar Rapids resident for eight years, died Sunday following a long illness.

Born Dec. 2, 1917, at Waterloo, she married there Sept. 12, 1937. The Schmelzers moved to Cedar Rapids from Postville in 1967. Mrs. Schmelzer was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church.

Surviving in addition to her husband are a daughter, Mrs. Kenneth Keegan, Marion; a son, David, Cedar Rapids; a sister, Mrs. Arthur Coffin, Waterloo; a brother, Edward Buhman, Lewiston, Idaho, and three grandchildren.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Garnavillo, with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call after 10 a.m. Tuesday at Tuecke-Allenstein (Allyn ?) funeral home, Garnavillo, where a Scripture wake service is scheduled for 8 p.m. Tuesday. Turner Chapel East had charge of Cedar Rapids arrangements.
