Strawberry Point-- Leonore I. Knight, 89, formerly of rural Strawberry Point, died Saturday evening, Oct. 21, 2000, in the Strawberry Point Lutheran home. Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, United Methodist Church in Strawberry Point, by the Rev. Anita Bane. Friends may call Tuesday, 3 to 8 p.m., at Roberson Funeral Home. Burial at Strawberry Point Cemetery.
She will be missed by her 91-year-old husband, Harold; four children, Dean and Nolan of Strawberry Point, Ruth Feuss of North Liberty and Rita Hall of Hiawatha; 13 grandchildren and 23 grand-children; brother, Donald L. Wiltse of Manchester; and only niece, Jo Bodeker and family of Robins.
Leonore was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Robert.
Leonore was born June 22, 1911, southeast of Strawberry Point, only daughter of J. Leonard and Stella Balluff Wiltse. She attended Lodomillo No. 3 school, graduated from Strawberry Point High School in 1928, attended AIB College in Des Moines, married Harold M. Knight on Aug. 24, 1930, in Strawberry Point. She raised her family on the Knight homestead east of town. She was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church, a faithful worker as a Sunday school teacher, U.M.W., contributed much to the cornerstone contents. She was a member of the local Grange since 1925, member and leader in 4-H, a worker in WCTU, Rebecka Lodge and East Country Club and very active in the Clayton County Genealogical Society by helping with county and rural school history.
Leonore enjoyed all children, especially the babies, traveling, visiting with many family and friends, and also her flower garden. She will be remembered as a caring friend and neighbor,
