Garnavillo, Ia. - Funeral services for John F. Stoeffler, 73, who died suddenly at his home here early Thursday morning, were held at St. Joseph's Church, Garnavillo, Saturday morning. the Rev. L.C. Iekel, pastor, celebrated the requiem mass. Burial was in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
Mr. Stoeffler was born near Guttenberg on June 5, 1871, the son of John P. and Mary Beckman Stoeffler. On Nov. 22, 1898, he was married to Mary Schueckenberger. He lived all his life in Clayton County, with the exception of five years in West Union.
In 1909 he moved to a farm in Clayton county, where he made his home until 1927, when he retired and moved to Garnavillo. He operated an oil station at the time of his death.
Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Henry (Cornelia) Bromerkamp; two sons, John E., Clayton Township and Donald, Garnavillo; two brothers, Joseph, Guttenberg and William, Lancaster, Wis.; five sisters, Elizabeth, Mrs. Mary Zimmerman; Mrs. Frances Boet; Mrs. Rose Schaller and Mrs. Eleanor Schaller, all of Dubuque; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
