Cedar Rapids-- Kenneth Joseph Boland, 67, of Madison Lake, Minn. Formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, Dec. 4, 1995, in Immanuel St. Joseph Hospital, Mankato, Minn., after a long illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday, St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Elkader, by the Rev. Thomas Rhomberg. Burial: church cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, where a wake service begins at 6 p.m.

Survivors include a son, James P. Boland and wife Phyllis of Pleasant Hill; a daughter, Cathy Polito and husband Paul of Madison Lake, Minn.; a brother, James L. Boland of Cedar Rapids; three sisters, Catherine Loftsgard of Elgin, Ruth Courtney of Decorah and Helen Elias of Des Moines; and seven grandchildren; Venessa, Valerie, Vania and James Boland and Mario, Catherine and Angelina Polito.

He was preceded by his parents; three brothers, Edward, John and Gerald; and two grandsons, Donald J. Polito and Kenneth J. Polito.

Born Sept. 6, 1928, in Elkader to Phillip and Ruey Regan Boland, he married Grace Forrest McIntyre on April 24, 1954, in Cedar Rapids. They were later divorced. Kenneth graduated from St. Joseph's Catholic School in Elkader and had worked for the Cedar Rapids Fire Department for 28 years, retiring in December 1985. He also had been employed by Sears for 30 years, since 1963. He was a member of the Cedar Rapids Fire Department Welfare Association.

A memorial fund in Kenneth's name has been established.
