Des Moines-- A train-automobile collision near Manchester Monday that took the life of Helen O'Brien, 42, registered nurse of Strawberry Point, brought to eight the number of Iowans killed over the 3-day Christmas holiday.
Miss O'Brien was killed when the automobile which her sister, Kathryn O'Brien, was reportedly driving, and a motor coach collided at a highway crossing 6 miles east of Manchester.
Kathryn O'Brien was in a Manchester hospital, reported in a critical condition with broken ribs and a punctured lung. Helen died of a broken neck.
At the hospital Kathryn told her mother, Mrs. Kathryn O'Brien of Strawberry Point, that frost on the windshield had obscured her vision. The two sisters were returning to Dubuque where both were employed after visiting at Strawberry Point.
