A dedication that appears in "The Bulldog - 1967", annual yearbook of the M-F-L school system, Monona, Iowa.
Arno Blumhagen, May 6, 1908 / January 26, 1967.
Arno Blumhagen was a bus driver for our school for fourteen years. During this time, he had the same bus route south of Monona. Many boys and girls rode on his bus during their entire school years at M-F-L.
Duties of a bus driver go far beyond safe driving. They include friendly encouragement to a reluctant first-day kindergarten pupil to a stern reprimand for youthful enthusiasm on the part of older boys and girls.
He took a sincere interest in his passengers and awarded them with treats at Christmas and the last day of school.
His acts of thoughtfulness and spontaneous kindness endeared him to the students of M-F-L.

Submitter Note: While a proper obit for Arno could not be found online the obit of his wife, Hazel A. A. Blumhagen (Lestina) 1911 - 1998 is on this obit board, as are those of other relatives. Arno's given name may actually be Arnold.
This submitter saw an entry for his admittance to Postville Hospital, Postville, Iowa, in the Postville Herald several days prior to the dedications given death date. If he died in that hospital a death certificate would be in Allamakee County, Iowa.
The picture of Arno Blumhagen accompanied the dedication from the yearbook.
