A dedication that appears in "The Bulldog - 1967", the M-F-L school system classbook for the year 1967 says:
Jackie Bernhard, who would have been a member of the class of 1967, lost his life in a haying accident.
Jackie had completed the first grade and would have entered the second grade at Monona that fall. He was a member of the Monona Methodist Sunday School.
His classmates will remember Jackie as the typical little boy who liked to play ball, roller skate, and enjoy outdoor sports.
(SUBMITTERS NOTE:Jackie's birth and death dates are given in the dedication as 4-20-1948 / 7-11-1956. The death date is different than that of the newspaper account of his death, which would be 7-2-1956. The date of the newspaper is very clear. The photo accompanied the dedication.)
