Elkader-- James W. Dinan died at his home here Monday morning following an illness of two years. He was 87.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. from St. Joseph's Catholic church here with the Very Rev. Bernard H. Skahill, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's cemetery.
He was born in Mederville on Jan. 2, 1862, and came here 15 years ago. His wife died Nov. 21, 1948.
He is survived by one daughter, Kathleen, and one son, Gerald, who lived with him. He is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Patrick Downie, Elkader, and Mrs. James McTaggart, Strawberry Point, and one brother, Lawrence, Littleport.

Funeral services for James W. Dinan, 89, were held Wednesday morning, March 23, from the McTaggart funeral home and the St. Joseph's Catholic church at 10 o'clock. The Rev. B. H. Skahill officiated. Burial was in St. Joseph cemetery.
Mr. Dinan died at his home in Elkader at 4:30 o'clock, Monday morning, March 21, 1949.
James W. Dinan was born on a farm near Littleport, January 21, 1860, the eldest son of Patrick and Anna Dinan, and was a lifelong resident of the Littleport and Elkader communities.
He was married to Sarah Leonard in 1899. To this union three children were born, Gerald and Kathleen at home. A daughter, Helen, died when five years old.
Surviving besides his two children are a brother, L. R. Dinan of Littleport, and two sisters, Mrs. Delia McTaggart, Strawberry Point, and Mrs. Patrick Downey, Elkader.
He was preceded in death by his wife and two brothers and two sisters, namely, Mike and John Dinan, Mrs. Richard Leonard and Jennie Dinan.
Pallbearers were: Harold Downey, Robert Dinan, Joe Dinan, James Leonard, Joe Rothmeyer and Stephen Leonard.
