Elkader-- Services for John Dinan, 59, of Rural Elkader, who was killed in an unusual accident near Volga Wednesday as he tried to move his car out of a ditch, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's church.
Burial will be in the church cemetery. A rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Friday at the McTaggart funeral home here, where friends may call.
Born Aug. 17, 1912, he was married to Ivanelle Kanneally. He farmed in the Elkader area most of his life and was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic church.
Surviving are his wife; two sons, Dick and Jim, both at home; two daughters, Janis Swanson of England and Donna, at home; two brothers, Joe of Elgin and Bob of Elkader; seven sisters, Mary Kanneally of Elkader and Margaret Whittle of Elkader, Ruth Matt of Garber, Charlotte Lenhart of Littleport, Katherine Dinan of Poplar Bluffs, Mo., Helen Simms of Rawlins, Wyo., and Eileen Hickey of Northbrook, Ill.
Mr. Dinan's wife and her mother are presently enroute to Europe to visit Mrs. Swanson in England. They will return home for the services.
