Waterloo Daily Courier, Tues., 18 Sept. 1945.

Strawberry Point-- Mrs. Katherine Meinken, 88, died Saturday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Otto Werger, where she had lived the last three years; born Nov. 4, 1856, at Morstein, Germany, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Grohs; came to America when she was 28, married at Strawberry Point on May 18, 1885, to Herman Meinken, and farmed west of here; husband died Feb. 28, 1904; leaves besides her daughter, four sons, Herman, Los Angeles, Cal.; Henry and August, of Aurora; and Arthur, of Oelwein; five grandchildren and a brother, George Grohs of Kenosha, Wis.; funeral here Monday.
