Oelwein Daily Register, Mon., 8 Aug. 1949. (Condensed from an article about three auto accidents that killed three Clayton County residents.).

Anna Connelly, 78, of Elkader, was killed instantly at about 10:30 a.m. yesterday as she and her brother, P. M. Connelly, 80, a farmer living near Elkader, were returning from church.

The brother was rushed to Mercy hospital here but was discharged this morning, hospital authorities said.

The two had just left church. Their car went out of control near St. Joseph's Catholic church and hit the right curb and then it was thrown across the street and crashed into a tree. The impact broke Miss Connelly's neck.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph's Catholic church in Elkader, with the Rev. B. N. Skahill officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph's cemetery. The remains are now at Oelke Funeral Home.
