Elkader-- Last rites for a Clayton county pioneer, Patrick M. Connelly, 87, will be conducted Monday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic church in Elkader.

Mr. Connelly, who lived on the Strawberry Point road in Cox Creek township, died Friday afternoon at the McGregor hospital. He was the last survivor of his family. A sister, Anna, died seven years ago.

Mr. Connelly was secretary of the Cox Creek township schools 30 years, of the Commmunia Insurance Co. more than 30 years and was town assessor for 25 years.

The Connelly farm, where he was born and raised, was entered from the government by his father more than 100 years ago.

Patrick Connelly is buried in St. Joseph's - Elkader Cemetery.
