Colesburg, Ia. - Funeral services for John E. Kauffman, 75, were held Thursday afternoon at the American Lutheran Church at Guttenberg with burial in the Guttenberg Cemetery.

Mr. Kauffman died suddenly Tuesday morning at his home here following a stroke.

He was born Dec. 7, 1863 in Millville Township, Clayton County, where he spent the greater part of his life. The family moved to Colesburg a year ago.

He was married to Louise DeSotel on July 4, 1887 and they were the parents of 13 children. Mrs. Kauffman died Feb. 27, 1911. On July 20, 1915 he was married to Mrs. Matilda Bailey, who died in 1930. His third marriage was Dec. 14, 1933 to Mrs. Sadie Hook, who survives.

Surviving are five sons: Louis of Edgewood, George and Raymond, both of Colesburg, Emmett of Greeley, and John of Bloomington, Wis.; six daughters: Mrs. Blanche Ferris of Stitzer, Wis., Mrs. Cora Call of Strawberry Point, Mrs. Louise Marshall of Bagley, Wis., Mrs. Marvel Chrysler of Guttenberg, and Mrs. Bertha Phelps and Mrs. Genevieve Harbough, both of Colesburg; 44 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
