Services were conducted at the Schultz Funeral Home, Monona, September 24 at 2:30 p.m. for Addie DeGraw Flaig, who died at the Elkader Care Center, Elkader, September 21 following a short illness. The Rev. Raymond W. Pacholke of the United Methodist Church, Monona, officiated.
Addie DeGraw Flaig, daughter of Julius and Clara Dunning Nagel, was born in Allamakee county, near Luana, February 16, 1886 and attended rural schools in the area.
September 18, 1907 she was united in marriage to Ross DeGraw and they lived in the Luana area. There were four children born to this union, two daughters, Ina and Lula; two sons Dayton and Lee. Mr. DeGraw died April 16, 1943.
She married Benjamin Flaig in January, 1965 and they lived in Oelwein until his death in August, 1970. She then lived with her daughter Mrs. Art Wolter, Luana.
She was baptized in the Wapsie River near Dunkerton, Iowa in June, 1956 and was a member of the Methodist Church at Hazelton. She was also a member of the Woman's Relief Corps at Hazelton and Oelwein.
Preceding her in death were her parents, two children, Dayton DeGraw and Lula Miller; two sisters Belle Jolly and Augusta Hoyt and two brothers Roy and Frank Nagel.
She is survived by her two children, Mrs Art (Ina) Wolter and Lee H. DeGraw, Hazelton; one brother Elba Nagel, Monona; three sisters, Mrs. Harley Powers, Marshalltown; Velma Smith, Cedar Rapids and Mary Nagel of West Union; 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and other relatives.
Burial was in the Monona cemetery, Monona, Iowa.
