Clara Wiethorn

Clara Elma Klotzbach Wiethorn died July 14 at Community Memorial Hospital. She was born April 10, 1886 in Giard Township, Clayton County to John and Kathryn Hahn Klotzbach. She was baptized in the Methodist faith November 25, 1886 by Rev Wellemeyer in Giard.

Feb. 9, 1910 she married Elmer Wiethorn at Giard. Rev. Barz performed the ceremony. The couple had one son. They farmed in Linton Township near Monona until 1943. In 1943 they moved into Monona. Clara remained in her home until 1976, at which time she became a resident of Postville Good Samaritan Home. She was a member of Garden City United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Elmer, who died June 5, 1958; a son, Ray, October 22, 1979; 6 brothers, Theodore, Levi, Franklin, Royal, Harrison and Willard; 2 sisters, Rose Schlein and Hulda Erbe; 2 half-brothers, George and John; 3 half-sisters, Anna Ulrich, Nettie Wickersheim and Ellen Benzing and one great-granddaughter.

Survivors include one grandson, Bill and 6 great-grandchildren, all of Monona.

Services were held Thursday, July 16, 1987, 11 a.m. at Garden City United Methodist Church, Monona. Rev. Dean Shelly officiated. Interment was in the Monona City Cemetery. Schultz's Funeral Home, Monona, was in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Clara's great-grandchildren, Rick, Carmen, Paula, Amy, Daniel and Michael.
