Clara Wiethorn
Funeral services for Clara Henrietta Fett Wiethorn were held Tuesday, May 31, 11 a.m. at Garden City United Methodist Church, Monona. Rev. Marion Bloodworth officiated. Burial was in the Monona City Cemetery. Schultz's Funeral Home, Monona, was in charge of services.
Clara was born August 11, 1895, to parents Fred and Emma Schlitter Fett, in rural Allamakee County, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed in the Evangelical United Brethren Church. She was educated in Sixteen School.
On June 4, 1914 Clara was united in marriage to Gilbert Wiethorn at the White Evangelical Church, Watson, Iowa. The couple had 2 sons. Gilbert and Clara farmed in Giard Township, Clayton county for many years. They retired and moved into Monona. Clara died May 27, 1988 at the Good Samaritan Center in Postville. She had been a resident of the home for the past 8 months.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Gilbert, Sr., who died Sept. 26, 1968; 2 brothers, Alfred Fett and Arthur who died in infancy; a sister, Lillie Aird and great-grandson, Mark Howard.
Surviving are 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Wilbert and Gretchen Wiethorn and Gilbert, Jr. and Ednah Wiethorn; 7 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 3 step great-grandchildren and one sister, Adaline Mielke.
Pallbearers were Kurt Wiethorn, LeRoy Howard, Robert Moses, Loren Radloff, Bradley Wiethorn, Jack Mulholland and Roger Cartwright.
