Gilbert Wiethorn Funeral Services

Funeral services for Gilbert Haven Wiethorn, Sr., 81, were held Monday afternoon, Sept. 30, at 1:30 o'clock at the Monona United Methodist church with Rev. Paul V. Clements officiating.

The body lay in state at the church from 12:30 o'clock in the afternoon until the time of the services. Burial was in the Monona City cemetery.

Mr. Wiethorn died Thursday, Sept. 26, at his home after being in ill health for several years.

He was born a son of Henry and Elizabeth, nee Bernhard, Wiethorn in Giard township, Oct. 11, 1886, in a log house built by his grandfather, Rev. Curt Wiethorn. He received his education at the Cooper Valley school.

He was married to Clara Fett, June 4, 1914, at the Watson E. U. B. church. He purchased a farm from his father, where he lived for 65 years. His son and family now live on this farm.

Mr. and Mrs. Wiethorn retired to Monona in February, 1951. They observed their golden wedding anniversary in June 1964.

He was a member of the Monona United Methodist church.

Preceding him in death were his parents and five brothers, Ben, Elmer, William, Harry and George.

Surviving are his wife, two sons, Wilbert and Gilbert, Jr.; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Music at the services was provided by Mrs. Thomas James, soloist. Mrs. Ivon J. Schultz was the organist.

Pallbearers were Kurt, Eldo, Brad, and Ray Wiethorn, Loren Radloff and Roger Cartwright.
