Mrs. Wiethorn Funeral Held

Funeral services for Mrs. William B. Wiethorn, 72, were held Friday afternoon, April 10, at 1:30 o'clock at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran church with Rev. R. E. Langholz officiating.

The body lay in state at the church from 12 o'clock noon until the time of the services.

Mrs. Wiethorn died Wednesday morning, April 8, at her home. She had been in declining health and was confined to her bed the last several months.

As Adele Ida, she was born the daughter of Edward and Mary, Nee Abel, Wirkler, Sept. 5, 1891, at Monona.

She was baptized Sept. 30, 1891, and was confirmed in the Lutheran faith at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran church in Monona, April 8, 1906. She not only received her education in Monona, but also lived here all her life.

She was married to William B. Wiethorn, Feb. 14, 1912. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1962.

Mrs. Wiethorn was active in the women's work of her church, belonging to the Mission circle for many years and was also active in the ALCW circles since they were organized. She also was a teacher in the Sunday school for about 12 years.

Preceding her in death were her parents, three sisters, and five brothers.

Surviving are her husband, two daughters, Janice Heussner of Fredericksburg and Jean Doom of Monona; four sisters, Amanda Schierholz of Postville, Marie Skilling of Laguna Beach, Calif., Mahala Lambert of Sarasota, Florida, and Nora Jenkins of Pasadena, Calif.; and five grandchildren.

Richard Stoehr, a nephew, was also cared for in the Wiethorn home for eight years.

Music at the services was provided by Mrs. Oswald Goettler, soloist. Mrs. George Heins was the soloist.

Burial was in the Monona City cemetery. Pallbearers were: Robert, Donald, Page, and Woodrow Wirkler, and Irving and Milton Schierholz, all nephews.

Postville Herald newspaper, hand dated 1964, from my mother's obituary collection.
