George H. Wiethorn
Funeral services for George H. Wiethorn of Monona were held Monday afternoon, Feb. 24, at 1:30 o'clock in the Monona Methodist church with Rev. Paul V. Clements officiating.
The body lay in state at the church from 12 o'clock noon until the time of the services. Burial was in the Monona City cemetery.
Mr. Wiethorn was born the son of Henry and Elizabeth, nee Bernhard, Wiethorn, Feb. 28, 1885, in Giard township. He died at Memorial hospital in Postville, Friday evening, Feb. 21, at 7 o'clock, at the age of 78 years.
Mr. Wiethorn was educated in the rural schools of the county.
He was married to Elsie Schmitt, Nov. 22, 1916, in the Monona Methodist church.
Mr. Wiethorn was a carpenter by trade, and at one time he operated a garage in Monona.
He was a member of the Monona Methodist church.
Preceding him in death were his wife, his parents, and two brothers, Elmer and Ben.
Surviving are three brothers, William B. and Gilbert, Sr., of Monona and Harry of Phoenix, Ariz., and many nieces and nephews.
Music at the services was provided by a duet consisting of Mrs. George Martin and Mrs. Ben Frese with Mrs. Ivon J. Schultz at the organ.
Pallbearers were: Wilbert, Gilbert, Jr., Ray, and Eldo Wiethorn, Edward Sass, and Elmer Marting, Jr.
