Services Held For David Anderson

Services were held Thursday, November 15 at 1:30 p.m. at the Marion Lutheran Church, Gunder, for David Lynn Anderson, whose body was discovered near the junction of Paint Creek and the Mississippi River Saturday, November 10. Cause of death has not been determined. The Rev. Robert Henriksen officiated.

David was born in Postville July 2, 1954. He was baptized September 13, 1954 at the Marion Lutheran Church. He attended Sunday school 12 years and was confirmed June 1, 1969 at Marion. He attended the Postville Community schools and graduated May 19, 1972.

He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Mary Ann Anderson, Postville; two sisters, Dawn of Iowa City and Denise of Waverly; his grandfather, Robert B. Wettleson and great grandmother Mrs. Anna Bigler, both of Postville and many uncles, aunts, cousins and other relatives.

Burial was at the Marion Lutheran Church cemetery.

RULE EXPOSURE AS PROBABLE CAUSE OF DEATH

An autopsy report released last Wednesday said David Anderson, whose body was found November 10 along the Mississippi River near Waukon Junction, probably died of exposure. The autopsy report indicated the body had been there perhaps three days.

Dr. Earl F. Rose of the pathology department of University Hospitals, Iowa City, said "the cause of death can not be stated with certainty because we do not know the circumstances surrounding the death, but my opinion is that Anderson probably died of exposure."

Anderson's car was found four days before the body was discovered. It was in the Yellow River forest area more than four miles from where the body was found. His mother, Mrs. Mary Ann Anderson, reported he had left a note for her November 6 saying he would be gone for a time.
