Harold Ihde Laid to Rest
Services for Harold Ihde were held January 3, 1980, at Norway Lutheran Church, St. Olaf, with Rev. Keith Klemm officiating. Mrs. Corrine Landsgard was organist and Don Wold was soloist. Pallbearers were Lorimer Fuelling, Kenneth Breitsprecher, Wayne Peterson, Raymond Koehn, Alonzo Engelhardt, and Lee Embretson.
Harold Charles Ihde was born September 6, 1917, the son of Arthur and Hilma (Schmidt) Ihde, in Farmersburg Township. He died at home January 1, 1980, at the age of 62.
He was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church, Clayton Center, Iowa, October 14, 1917, and was confirmed there March 29, 1931. He sang in the choir of his home congregation for a time.
On June 25, 1940, he was united in marriage with Amanda Glawe at Peace Evangelical Church in Elkader. They lived in the Farmersburg area until March 1, 1951, when they moved into the house they built next to Norway.
Harold was active in both church and civic concerns. He was a member of the Church Council and served on the cemetery board at Norway Lutheran Church. He was, at one time, president of the Church Board and was on the board of deacons at the time of his death. He also served for 18 years as director of the St. Olaf Co-op.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Jeffery Schuety.
He is survived by his wife, Amanda; six children, Mrs. Elmer (Sandra) Schuety of St. Olaf, Mrs. Bert (Pamela) Glaser of Rochester, Minn., Larry of Elkader, Kevin of St. Olaf, Brian of Rochester, Minn., and Kimberly, at home; three grandchildren, Erin and Chad Ihde, and Leah Glaser; and two sisters, Mrs. Francis (Evelyn) Behning of St. Olaf and Mrs. Lester (Rosalyn) Lembke of Elkader.
