Mary Kathryn "Kay" Kacena of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Saturday, February 23, 2002 at Mercy Hallmar following an extended illness. She was 83 years of age. Memorial services were held at the First Lutheran Church at Cedar Rapids with Stewart Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Kay was born December 18, 1918 in Farmersburg, Iowa to Hale and Emma (Kaiser) Corlett. She married Martin E. Kacena on April 25, 1942 in Cedar Rapids. She worked as a supervisor in the accounting department at Lefebure Company. She was an active member of First Lutheran Church as well as many other community groups.

She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Carolyn of Commerce, Texas and Barbara and her husband Wendell Gauger of Vermillion, South Dakota; and sisters-in-law Marjorie Corlett and Dorothy Corlett of Farmersburg.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents, a son Steven Kacena; three brothers, Earl, Robert, and Hale Corlett, Jr.
