Walter Bruehahn
Funeral services for Walter Bruehahn were held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Schultz's Funeral Home in Monona. Pastor Harold O. Ward officiating. Burial was in Monona City Cemetery.
Walter Bruehahn was born July 16, 1896, to parents Wilhelm and Alvina Voelzke Bruehahn, in Allamakee County. He was baptized August 3, 1896 and confirmed Feb. 27, 1913 in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Monona. He received his education in country school in Allamakee county. In 1918 Walter entered the U. S. Army and served during W.W.I.
On August 6, 1929, Walter was united in marriage to Gladys Schroeder at the Lutheran parsonage in Monona by Rev. Daugs. They had three children. The couple farmed northwest of Monona until 1957. The couple moved into Monona in 1961. Walter worked for Ivan Melcher construction and did woodworking as a hobby.
Walter died Sunday, May 14, 1989 at the Great River Care Center in McGregor where he had been a resident for several years. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran church and the Leslie S. Smith American Legion Post 519 in Monona.
Preceding him in death were four brothers, Paul, Bert, George and an infant brother; two sisters, Selma and Edna and one granddaughter, Joan Dull.
Surviving is one son, Walter, Jr. (Sockie) of Monona, two daughters, Georgia Dull of Falls Church, VA and Gracie Plumlee of Ridgely, WV; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers: Alan Bruehahn, Gerald Bruehahn, Donald Bacon, Robert Ball, Larry Schroeder, Delbert Scheffert, Donald Dull and Harry Schutte, Jr.
