Services Held For Mrs. Wolter
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at the home in Luana and at 2:30 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Luana for Mrs. George Wolter, 43, who passed away at Postville Hospital November 14 following an illness of which began about a year ago.
Rev. L. W. Reuther, pastor of St. John's, was in charge of the rites. Burial was in the Lutheran cemetery at Luana.
Agnes Elizabeth Wolter, the youngest of 12 children born to Absalom Ames and Mary Scheid Ames, was born at Luana on January 18, 1909. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.
The days of her youth was spent in Luana. She attended school in what is known as the Hickory School. On December 15, 1926, she was united in marriage to George Wolter of Luana. Two children were born to this union.
She was a faithful member of St. John's Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid.
The years of her health, which she enjoyed almost lifelong, she put into active service. It therefore came as a surprise and saddened the hearts of all when about one year ago she showed signs of failing health. December 3, 1951 she submitted to major surgery. It was observed she was suffering from an incurable disease. In spite of ablest medical care, she grew weaker with the passing of the weeks and months.
The beginning of the past week gave indications that her condition was turning from bad to worse. She was again taken to Postville Hospital where on Friday, November 14, at 12:50 a.m., she passed away. She attained the age of 43 years, nine months and 27 days.
Mrs. Wolter was preceded in death by her parents and on February 19, 1943 by her older son, Donavan. She is survived by her husband and one son, Duane; four sisters, seven brothers and other friends, and relatives.
