Teresa B (Kennicker) Hefel, age 82, of Guttenberg, IA, died Thursday, September 20, 2012, at the Guttenberg Municipal Hospital.
She was born on February 15, 1930 in North Buena Vista, the daughter of Alfred and Bernadette (Rinicker) Kennicker. After Teresa received her education she helped out on the farm and worked various jobs.
On June 12, 1950, Teresa was united in marriage with Robert Hefel at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in North Buena Vista. This union blessed them with two children. Teresa worked beside her husband on the farm for much of her life.
She also spent 20 years working for Casey’s General Store. Teresa was a very dedicated member of St. Mary’s Church. She was a very active member with various groups and events and was also a very faithful women who made her church a high priority.
Teresa is survived by her two children, Jeanne (Jamal) Zabout of Petaluma, Calif. and Michael (Dian) Hefel of Vinton, IA; two grandchildren, Haifa (Tim) Sweeny of Berkeley Calif. and Ramsey Zabout of Chicago IL; two step grandchildren, Gary (Mari) Morgan and Rachael Hoffman; two step great grandchildren, Gabe Morgan and Riley Hoffman; five siblings, Frank (Kathy) Kennicker of Sherrill, Clarence (Florence) Kennicker of Holy Cross, Mary (Melvin) Barth of Durango, Gerald (Karen) Kennicker of Millville and Leroy (Dorothy) Kennicker of Holy Cross; three sisters in law, Eileen Theisen of Manchester, Eileen Merfeld and Dorothy Crew both of Dubuque.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, siblings, Ray Kennicker, Stella Bertjens, Lawrence, Ed and Leon Kennicker and Marita Etter.
