Ivan Henry Schlake, age 72, died Wednesday, Dec. 11, 1996, at his residence in Prescott Valley.
He was born April 2, 1924, in Farmersburg, Iowa, to Louisa (Thiese) and Leroy Schlake. Mr. Schlake attended Monona High School in Monona, Iowa.
He served in the United States Army during World War II. He served overseas in the Aleutian Islands (approximately 700 miles from Japan) as a part of the Army Engineers.
Mr. Schlake worked as a driver for the United States Post Office. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and served in the capacity of trustee, elder, usher and custodian.
His wife, June B. Schlake, preceded him in death.
Suvivors include his sons, Steven I. Schlake of Livingston, Texas, David S. Schlake of Pocatello, Idaho, Jay E. Schlake of Petaluma, Calif., Gary A. Schlake of Troy, Idaho, and Kevin J. Schlake of Pocatello, Idaho; twin sister, Ivan Ell Lockard of Prescott Valley; brother, Merle Schlake of Mesa, Ariz.; sister, Carol Hanson of Prescott Valley; and three grandchildren.
Memorial services will be on Sunday, Dec. 22, 1996, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 3950 Valorie Drive, Prescott Valley. Pastor Dennis Morner will officiate. Sunrise Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
