Peterman, Daniel 1826 - 1917

Daniel Peterman of Clayton county, Iowa, was born in Washington county, Penn., June 8, 1826. He was the second son of John and Rebecca Peterman, who were members of the Free Will Baptist church. When Daniel was 4 years old the family moved to Ripley county, Ind.

In 1851 he was united in marriage to Mary J. Sutton and of this union there were eight children born, 5 sons and 3 daughters, namely: Joseph of Arlington, Iowa; John W. of Atlanta, Iowa; Solomon of Nevada, Iowa; Henry of Highland township, Volga, Iowa; Rebecca Duff, Highland township, Volga, Iowa; Martha Lichiss, Arlington, Iowa; William of Manchester, Iowa, died in 1879; and Mary J. 1n 1912. Mrs. Peterman passed away in 1888. In addition to the surviving children there are 27 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren.

In 1853 Mr. Peterman came to Clayton county, Iowa, and entered title to a piece of land near Elkport. In 1856 he settled on his farm in Highland township, where he has since made his home and where he passed away on Sunday evening, Nov. 18, 1917, aged 91 years, 5 months and 10 days.

Funeral services were held from the home, conducted by Rev. B. F. P__rson, of Volga.
