Monona, Ia. - Funeral services for Mrs. John Vaughan, 83, who died at the home of her sister, Mrs. Ed Ryan, Wednesday, were held Saturday morning at St. Patrick's Church here. The Rev. Luke Donlon, pastor, celebrated the requiem high mass. Burial was in St. Patrick's Cemetery.
Mrs. Vaughan, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Humphrey, pioneers of Clayton County, was born March 22, 1861, in Monona Township on a farm south of Monona. For several years she lived in Chicago where she was a portrait artist.
She married John Vaughan of Algona, Ia., who died in 1927. Surviving are a foster son, Richard Vaughan, of Whittemore, Ia.; two brothers, P.H. Humphrey and L.J. Humphrey, of Monona; three sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Leslie of Waverly, Ia., and Miss Mary Humphrey and Mrs. Ed Ryan, of Monona.
