Elgin Echo, Thur., 17 June 1909.
Word comes of the sudden and sad passing of Tollef, the eighteen year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Jos. Tollefson, who reside near St. Olaf. The father and son drove to Clermont to attend the Sangerfest at Clermont on June 6. While there the young man complained of not feeling well. On the way home they were caught in a rain storm and were compelled to stop for shelter at the home of John Groth. While here the boy grew worse and it was impossible for him to travel further. Medical aid was summoned and he seemed to rally and was able to be up and about on Wednesday and Thursday, June 9 and 10. Thursday evening he was taken worse suddenly and went to bed, soon after he became delirious and remained in that condition until the time of his death, which came during the night. The immediate cause of death was meningitis. The funeral was held from the Norway church Sunday where interment was made.
