Henrietta Dorothea Fett, nee Schroeder was born at Lauenburg, Prussia, Germany on March 13, 1832. She was united in marriage to Friedrich Gottlieb Fett April 11, 1856. Thus they shared the joys and sorrows of life together for over 67 years. To them were born 3 sons and 3 daughters. Two daughters died as children and one daughter, Augusta Deball, passed away last Wednesday and was buried on the day of her mother's death.

In 1883 they came to this country and first lived in Fairview Township in Allamakee County, Iowa living with their son Charles Fett. In 1884 they moved to Linton Township and the last 20 years on the farm a mile north of Watson. Henrietta was converted and joined the Watson Evangelical Church in 1885 under the ministry of Rev. Illian. She died on February 23, 1924 at the home of her son Charles Fett. She attained the age of 91 years, 11 months and 10 days. She leaves her husband, nearly 88 years of age; three sons, Charles, Fred, and Rudolph of Monona, Iowa; 21 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Services were held Tuesday at the Charles Fett home and in the Watson Church with burial in the Council Hill Cemetery. Rev. Hillman conducted the services.

NOTES:
The daughter who died, Augusta Deball, was married to August Deball and they are both buried in the Council Hill Cemetery near Watson, Iowa. However, sometimes the Deball name has been spelled as Duball, and that is how their son is listed in the Council Hill Cemetery.

In 1906, Friedrich and Henrietta Fett celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary. The Monona Leader wrote an article about this celebration which was observed at the home of their son Charles Fett near Watson, Iowa. A portion of that article did say this about Friedrich Gottlieb Fett: born at Lanz, Germany on March 12, 1836. It stated that Henrietta Schroeder and Friedrich Fett were both born in the Province of Pommern. Friedrich was employed in Germany by others and later was an administrator who came to America about 1883 and immediately settled near Monona with Charles Fett, their son.
