Elgin Echo, Thursday, 29 August 1912.

Mrs. Magdalena Ritz, who made her home with her son, Fred Ritz and family, southeast of town, passed away Sunday afternoon at the ripe old age of nearly ninety-two years. Her call came suddenly. She had eaten her dinner and afterward lain down on the sofa for a rest when within a very short time she passed from this earth. There was no struggle and no suffering and death came as though she had fallen asleep. Mrs. Ritz had been a resident of that section for many years and was well and favorably known. Besides the immediate family she leaves a large number of relatives and friends to mourn her departure. Funeral services were held from the Apostolic church, east of town, and interment made in the cemetery there Wednesday afternoon.
