Strawberry Point, Ia. - Funeral services for Mrs. Leah Axtell, 70, were held here Wednesday afternoon at the Congregational Church with the Rev. James McLain, pastor, officiating. Burial was in the Strawberry Point cemetery.
Mrs. Axtell died Sunday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Donald Farley, at Blue Grass, with whom she had been visiting.
As Leah Lamphrier, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Lamphrier, she was born at Strawberry Point on July 1, 1869. On March 8, 1888 she was married to Herman Axtell. They lived here all but five years, which were spent at Cresco. Mr. Axtell died Oct 5, 1936.
Surviving are five children: Lloyd of Medina, N.D., Mrs. Kenneth Reeves of Decorah, Meron of Strawberry Point, Howard of Peoria, Ill., and Mrs. Donald Farley of Blue Grass; two brothers and two sisters: Mrs. Clara Robbins of Edgewood, Mrs. George Roquet of Pohanset, Minn., W.M. Lamphier of Aurora, Ill., and Walter Lamphier of Lewiston, Mont.; and 12 grandchildren.
