Mike,
I am not related to the Lerch family. I came across the obit while doing some other family research & posted it, hoping it would help someone.

One of the questions asked on the 1925 Iowa State Census was "who are your parents, their ages, and where they were married".

On Ancestry.com I found Ernest on the 1925 Iowa State Census indexed as Eva Lerch, in case you want to look up the image. The enumerator had entered him as Ern Lerch.

In the space for Mother the info. given was: Mary Lerch, born in Switzerland, age 65.

In the space for Father the info. given was: "he does not know who his father was", born in Switzerland.

Parents marriage info.: "were not married"

Hope this helps, although I realize that your search for a father may have become more difficult. Good luck!
