John Hagensick Dies at Age 83
Obituary from Unknown NewspaperFuneral services were held for John Hagensick at his home church, St John Lutheran church, Farmersburg, with Pastor David Heck leading the service. Dale Tieden, Elkader, sang two solos. Mrs. James Walter was the organist.
Burial was in the Farmersburg-Wagner Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Vernice Moon, Allison Fuelling, John Johnson, Lyle Izer, Kenneth Walz, Clifford Jones. Honorary pallbearers were Rev R.H. Steege, Henry Lubbers, Elmer Muller and Alvin Vogt.
John Hagensick was born Dec 15, 1889, to Francis and Mary Ann (Connell) Hagensick in the town of Monona. He was baptized at St Patrick’s of Monona on Jan 15, 1890, by the Rev. P. Corbett.
He attended rural schools in the area. He was united in marriage on Jan 23, 1913, to Lucy Radloff in the home of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Radloff. They moved to a farm near Farmersburg and St. Olaf until retiring in 1959 when they moved to the city of Elkader. There were five children from this marriage: Miranda, Marie, Gustava, Delpha Mae and Joyce Darlene. They attended St. John Lutheran Church of Farmersburg.
John Hagensick moved from the Elkader Community Hospital where he spent 25 days, to the Elkader Care Center, where he passed away after 4 weeks. He lived to the age of 83 yrs., 11 months and 1 day.
John was preceded in death by his parents, a half brother,Leo, and an infant daughter, Joyce Darlene(3 months).
John is survived by his wife, Lucy, four children; Mrs. Harley (Miranda) Kalke, Elkader; Mrs. Harry (Marie) Seeland, St. Olaf; Mrs. Glenn (Gustava) Larson, Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Warren (Delpha Mae) Larson, Cedar Rapids; one brother, Richard, Monona; five half-brothers; Joe, Decorah; Marvin and Eddie, Marquette, Ia; Ray, Waukon; Roy, Lebanon, Indiana; one half-sister, Mrs. J. V. (Grace) Snook; 6 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
