Henry F. Seeland - Funeral services were held last Wednesday afternoon, March 11th, for Henry F. Seeland at the Oelke mortuary here in Elkader and at the Zion's Lutheran church in Clayton Center cemetery with the Rev. D. A. Flesner officiating.
Casketbearers were Harley and Lester Seeland, Lawrence Gottschalk, Harvey and Roy Glawe and Harold Knoke.
Henry Fred Seeland, son of Mr. and Mrs. Karl Seeland, was born on April 22, 1878. On the 12th of November, 1909, he was united in marriage to Miss Caroline Glawe. Four children were born to this union, two sons and two daughters all of whom survive.
The deceased had been farming in the vicinity of Elkader for the last 33 years. He died on the 8th of March, 1942 at the age of 63 years, 10 months and 14 days.
Left to mourn his death are his wife, Mrs. Caroline Seeland, four children: Mrs. Florence Gusta of Strawberry Point; Clarence Seeland who is at home; Mrs. Hilma Breitsprecher of Elkader; Harry Seeland also of Elkader.
He leaves three grandchildren: Delores Gusta, Beverly Jean Seeland, Roger Lee Breitsprecher; also one sister, Mrs. Chas. Gottschalk of Elkader, and two brothers: William Seeland of St. Olaf and Louis Seeland of Elkader. Another brother, Charles Seeland, preceded him in death six years ago on 17th of January, 1936. Five brothers and one sister passed away while still in infancy or childhood. He leaves many relatives and friends.
