Funeral services for Mrs. John Glawe (Freda Marie) Glawe, 77, Littleport, were held Friday, May 29, at Peace United Church of Christ at 2 o'clock. Burial was at Clayton Center. Rev. A. F. Volle, pastor, officiated.
Music for the funeral was furnished by Dale Tieden who sang, "The Old Rugged Cross" and "How Great Thou Art." He was accompanied by Mrs. Jean Welsh at the organ.
Mrs. Glawe died Saturday, May 25, at the Edgewood Convalescent Home where she had been a patient since last January 7. She had been in failing health for a number of years.
A daughter of Ferdinand and Juliane Bolte Schuety, Freda Marie Schuety was born in Wagner Township on January 13, 1891. She received her education in a rural school in Boardman Township.
On February 11, 1914, she was married to John Glawe at the family home in Boardman Township. The couple spent their married lives on farms near Elkader and Littleport until 1946 when they moved into Littleport to make their home.
Mrs. Glawe was baptised on October 16, 1891, at Clayton Center by Rev. Linnenburger. She was confirmed on June 9, 1935, by Rev. Paul Kitterer, pastor of Peace United Church of Christ, Elkader.
Mr. and Mrs. Glawe observed their golden wedding anniversary on February 9, 1964. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors of America.
Surviving is her husband, three sons, LeRoy, Edgewood; Lester, Littleport; Alvin, Kansas City, Mo., and three brothers, Emil, Herman and Fred Schuety, all of Elkader.
She was preceded in death by one son, John C. Glawe, who passed away in 1947, and by five brothers and two sisters.
Pallbearers at her services were: William Schuety, Carlys Schuety, Harry Seeland, Harley Glawe, Carl Glawe and Verdine Glawe.
