Mrs. Charles Glawe died at her home in Boardman township, Saturday afternoon, May 20, at 5:30 o'clock. She had been ill for four years.
Mrs. Glawe was the former Ella Wilhelmina Ihde, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ihde and was born in Clayton Center, Aug. 19, 1886. She was married Dec. 4, 1909 to Charles Glawe and except for two years during which the family lived in Elkader, her whole life was spent on the farm. They had four children, Karl and Helen and two who died in infancy.
Mrs. Glawe was a member of Zion Lutheran church of Clayton Center and an active member of the Ladies Aid and the Missionary society of which she served as treasurer.
She is survived by her husband, son Karl, who is on the home place; daughter, Mrs. Eldo Johnson; one granddaughter Arlene Johnson; her aged father, Charles Ihde and one brother Arthur Ihde.
The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon, May 23 at Zion Lutheran church of Clayton Center with the Rev, G. K. Mykland officiating. Burial was made in the Clayton Center cemetery. Pallbearers were LeRoy Glawe, Edwin Glawe, Harry Seeland, Lester Lembke, Harold Ihde and Clayton O'Neil.
Relatives attending the funeral from a distance were Pfc. Alvin Glawe of Long Island, N.Y., Henry Glawe of Britt, Arno Koss of Milwaukee, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. Walter Ruckdaschel, Ed Schlee family and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Casten all near Postville and Mr. and Mrs. Art Schroeder of Castalia.
