Funeral services were held Saturday, July 21, 1962, at 1:30 p.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church, Clayton Center, for Mrs. Henry (Caroline) Seeland, with Rev. J. H. Zerhusen officating. Burail was in the new Clayton Center cemetery. Pallbearers were Harold Knoke, Harold Glawe, Leroy Glawe, Harold Seeland, Arlyn Gray and Karl Glawe.
Caroline Lisetta Dorothea Glawe, daughter of Henry and Wilhelmine Schroeder Glawe, was born August 12, 1888, in Read Township, Clayton County, Iowa, and died July 18, 1962, at the University Hospitals, Iowa City, after an illness of five weeks.
Mrs. Seeland was baptized Sept. 23, 1888, and confirmed March 23, 1902, by the Rev. F. W. Seifert in the Clayton Center church.
She received her education in the rural school.
Nov.12, 1908, she was married to Henry Seeland at the Zion Lutheran Church, Clayton Center. In 1909 the Seelands moved to the present Harry Seeland farm in Boardman Township and lived there until the death of Mr. Seeland, March 8, 1942, then Mrs. Seeland made her home with her children until 1953, when she moved to Elkader.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother, Hermann, and three sisters, Mrs. Charles (Minnie) Lahrs, Mrs. John (Reka) Koss and Mrs. Fred (Ella) Knoke.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Elmer (Florence) Gusta, Strawberry Point, and Mrs. Ervin (Hilma) Breitsprecher; two sons, Clarence, Elgin, and Harry, St. Olaf; three grandchildren; five great-gradchildren; four brothers, Charles Glawe, Elkader; John Glawe, Littleport; Henry Glawe, Britt, and Albert Glawe, St. Olaf.
Relatives and friends from a distance who attended the funeral were: Mrs. Bob Bent and Mr. and Mrs. Warren Larson, Cedar Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Koss, Milwaukee, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Casten, Mrs. Lowell Fox, Mrs. Walter Ruckdaschel and Art Schroeder, Postville; Mrs. Nora Sandey, California; Mrs. Ralph Sargent, Mrs. Louie Scherman, Mr. and Mrs. D. W. Duncan, Mrs. Malcolm Kramer, Mrs. Wilma Hageman, Mrs. John Spang and Joanne, Strawberry Point; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Morris, Jackie and Debie, Oelwein; Mrs. Filma Kricke, and Mrs. Mabel Henkes, McGregor.
