MURPHY, ENGLISH, WALK, WAALK

Monona, Ia. - Funeral services were held in the Methodist Church here for Mrs. Mary Murphy, 84, with the Rev. H.W. Farnham, pastor, officiating. Burial was in the city cemetery.

She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Waalk, and was born in Mecklenberg, Germany, Dec. 18, 1858. When six years old she came to America with her parents, who settled in Clayton County. On April 25, 1882, she married Thomas Murphy and they farmed for several years, later retiring and moving to Monona.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. P.H. English and Florence; and one brother, Henry Waalk, all of Monona.
