Ruth Ann E. Hanson, 73, of Dubuque, passed away Monday, May 13, 2013, at Continuing Care, St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids.

Services were held Thursday, May 16, in Dubuque and burial was Friday, May 17, in the Guttenberg City Cemetery.

Ruth Ann was born on Nov. 11, 1939, in Guttenberg, daughter of John and Della (Tuecke) Aulwes. She graduated from Guttenberg High School and married Gary Hanson in 1957. They were later divorced.

Ruth Ann worked in real estate her whole life. She worked for Voelker Realty in early 1960s and joined with Vicki Bechen, Ginger Bower and June Scremin to form Consolidated Realty in 1977. In 1981, they franchised to 21st Century, which continued in Dubuque until January 2007, when they merged with Brissey Realty.

Ruth Ann was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes fan and Green Bay Packers fan and enjoyed gardening and golfing, where she was a rare member of the "Hole in One Club". But most of all, she enjoyed time with her children, grandchildren and sister, Joan.

Surviving are her children, Pam Hanson; her children, Ali and Andrew, Jeff (Cindy) Hanson and their daughter, Lizz, Mitch (Tina Pitz) Hanson; her sister, Joan Hinzman; and her niece, Tracy Hinzman.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her in-laws, Bernice and Larry Hanson; and a niece, Deb Stirn.
