Darwin F. Moses

Darwin Francis Moses, 75, of Garnavillo, died Friday, May 10, 2013, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minn.

Visitation was Wednesday, May 15, at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Garnavillo, and one hour before services at the church. Funeral services were Thursday, May 16, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Garnavillo, conducted by Rev. Marvin Bries. Interment was at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Monona.

Darwin was born the son of Lawrence and Marie (Muchow) Moses, Aug. 5, 1937, in Monona.

Darwin graduated from the Monona High School in 1956, owned and operated the Moses Tavern and Kist Bottling Company for many years, and drove for Bischoff Trucking.

On Sept. 5, 1957, he was united in marriage with Marion Stroschein at St. Joseph’s Church in Garnavillo.

Darwin enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, fast pitch softball, “shooting the breeze” with friends, playing cards with family, dancing with his wife, and farming with his father, Lawrence, and father-in-law, Tommy Stroschein.

He is survived by his wife, Marion (of 55 years); his son, Rick (Brenda) Moses of Garnavillo; one daughter, Ann (Terry) Schmidt of Farmersburg; and son, Bob Moses of Strawberry Point; seven grandchildren, Jeremy Moses (Courtney Adams), Jill (Justin) Tangeman, Kyle Schmidt, Chris (Kayla) Schmidt, Molly Moses, Ethan Moses, and Elliott Moses; one great-granddaughter, Kennedy Schmidt; and one brother, Donnie Moses of Chicago.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Susan; and one sister-in-law, Barbara Moses.
