Longer obit added 05/21/2014 by S. Ferrall:

Manchester, Iowa, June 7 - At six o'clock yesterday morning the remains of Mrs. Margaret Liddy, who has been making her home in this city with Mrs. A.L. Beardslee for the past two years, started on their last journey to Littleport, where the funeral was held this afternoon and interment made. Father J.J. Collins of this city, assisted by Father Minogue of Elkader, had charge of the service. Mrs. Liddy was well known in Dubuque, and a number from that city attended the funeral. Among this number were M.H. and D.H. McCarthy, Mrs. James Hayes, Mrs. John Hayes and Mrs. Hennessey.

Margaret Hayes was born in County Clare, Ireland, June 28, 1816, and lacked but a few days of 94 years at the time of her death, which took place Saturday morning as a result of extreme old age.

At an early age she came to America and settled in Portland, Maine, where in 1848 she was married to Dennis Liddy. Nine children were born to this union, of whom six are now living, one, Mrs. Hennessey, residing in Dubuque. The others are D.H. Liddy of Monticello, M.H. Liddy of Hawkeye, Dr. T.F. Liddy of Chicago, and Mrs. A.L. Beardslee and Mrs. Anna Barr of this city.

From Portland they moved to Illinois, then to Dubuque, and from Dubuque to Elkader, where she lived until about two years ago. On October 15, 1904, occurred the death of her husband.

Mrs. Liddy, who has been a member of the Catholic church since birth, is the last of a family of four brothers and three sisters, and all her life has enjoyed the esteem of all with whom she has come in contact.
