Mrs. E. L. Turner, one of Grand Meadow's [Minn.] best known and beloved women, passed away at her home in this village [Grand Meadow] early last Saturday evening. She suffered a heart attack shortly before noon that day and never rallied. She had been a resident of this community for nearly thirty years.
Funeral services were held at the family home here on Monday morning, Rev. Stanley Williams officiating. Remains were taken to Clayton County, Iowa, where interment was made in the family lot in the Wagner township cemetery where her daughter, Hazel, who died in 1910, is buried. This cemetery is located on the farm on which Mrs. Turner resided as a bride.
Arantha Eugenia Cook was born in Clayton County, Iowa April 13, 1866, the daughter of Catherine and Francis G. Cook. She was the youngest of three children, two brothers Geroge O. Cook and Daniel B. Cook, preceding her in death a number of years ago. Daniel Cook residing here in Grand Meadow [MN] a number of years before his death and was the father of Miss Florence Cook of Grand Meadow.
Mrs. Turner grew up to womanhood in Clayton County and on March 18, 1891, was married to Eugene L. Turner. To this union was born two daughters and one son; Hazel A., who passed away August 13, 1910, Mrs. Eli Termanson and Ralph B. Turner, who reside in this community and who, with the husband and father, remain to mourn her passing and revere her memory. She is also survived by six grandsons, Dell and Roger Temanson, Curtis, Robert, Cedric and James Turner.
The Turner family moved to Grand Meadow in the year 1914 and have been prominent in the community affairs here. Mrs. Turner had been in her usual health until nearly noon Saturday, Apri 17, when she suffered a stroke from which she never rallied. She passed to her reward at 7:30 o'clock that evening at the 77 years and 4 days.
