Harvey Robert Wirkler was born October 9, 1924, on the family farm near Garnavillo, Iowa, son of Harvey P. and Louise (Dickman) Wirkler. He died Monday, December 8, 1997, at the St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, following complications from heart surgery.

Harvey graduated from the Garnavillo High School in 1942; farmed with his family for many years and faithfully attended the Gospel Hall in Garnavillo. On September 8, 1951, he was united in marriage with Shirley Jacobs in Waterloo, Iowa.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley; two daughters, Mrs. Linda (Paul) McDonald of Waterloo and Mrs. Becky (Glen) Menke of Marion, Iowa; two sons, Mr. Alan (Darci) Wirkler and Mr. Brian Wirkler all of Farmersburg, Iowa; seven grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Jeanne Wirkler of Garnavillo, and many friends and relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Vern.
