Farmersburg, Ia. - Funeral services for August F. Mahnke, 72, were held from the home of his daughter, Mrs. Hervey Dahlstrom, to St. John's Lutheran church Monday. He suffered a heart attack in his place of business on Oct. 10, and died two days later.
Mr. Mahnke was a farmer in Read and Wagner townships until 1919, when he moved to Farmersburg and entered business. He was a member of National lodge No. 172, AF & AM.
He is survived by two sons, Elmer Mahnke, Madison, Wis. and Harvey Mahnke, San Francisco, Calif.; three daughters, Mrs. Dahlstrom and Olga Mahnke, both of Farmersburg, and Mrs. Milton Monlux, St. Olaf, Ia.; one sister, Mrs. Fred Walke, Elkader, Ia.; and one granddaughter. He was preceded by his wife, the former Minna Reichoff, to whom he was married in January, 1899. She died in November, 1933.
