Meehan, James J. 1881-1945
James J. Meehan, 64, a farmer, died at his rural residence near Elkader at 3:20 Saturday morning after an illness of three weeks. Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning from the home at 9 o'clock to St. Joseph's church, Garnavillo, at 9:30. Burial will be in St. Joseph's cemetery, Garnavillo.Born May 25, 1881, in Detroit, Mich., he had lived in Iowa for many years and was a farmer. He was a member of St. Joseph's church, Garnavillo.
Survivors are his wife, Frances; four sons, Lt. Edwin, U.S. army stationed at Hamilton field, Calif., Donald, St. Olaf, Ia., Eugene, Elkader, and Seaman 1-c Leo, coast guard, Vancouver, Wash.; one sister, Mayme, Harpers Ferry, Ia.; and two brothers, Richard, Harpers Ferry, and Martin, Waukon.
He was preceded in death by four brothers.
