Died - At the home of her son, Nathan, 3 1/2 miles south of Arlington, Tuesday, Oct 3rd, 1899, Mrs. Permelia A. Kidder, aged 84 years, 9 months and 27 days.

Permelia A., daughter of Steven and Lydia Abbott, was born in Genesee County, New York, Dec. 6th, 1815. In 1835 she was united in marriage with Rev. Franklin Kidder. In 1866 with husband and family she came to Ia., and settled on the old homestead 7 miles west of Strawberry Point, where she lived until about 8 years ago. Her husband died Aug. 19th, 1892.

She was the mother of eleven children, seven of whom survive her, four having passed to the silent majority. The living are: Mrs. Cora A. Ensign, residing at Royalton, Minn., Miss Jennie Kidder and Nathan Kidder, who live 3 1/2 miles southeast of Arlington; Mrs. Sophia Burlingham, of Los Angeles, Cal.; Mrs. Permelia Jackson, of Bradford, Pa.; Mrs. Josephine Cane, of Elkhorn, Wis.; and De Forest S. Kidder, of Perciyal, Ia.

Mrs. Kidder was a noble, self-sacrificing woman, an earnest co-worker with her husband in the Baptist church, and was universally beloved where known.

The funeral services will be held at the home and at the Baptist church in this place, at 10:30, Rev. A.A. Ostrich officiating. Numerous friends will mourn with the bereaved family, while the works of her well rounded life will live long after her.

Mrs. Melia A. Kidder, residing between Arlington and Strawberry Point, aged 84, died Tuesday afternoon of old age. The funeral will be held at Strawberry Point today. W.H. Gleim has charge of the funeral.

Note: WPA records show that she is buried in the Strawberry Point cemetery, although the WPA dates are incorrect.
