Dr. Joshua Hicks of Monona, who died at Postville Hospital recently, was a half century ago one of the leading medical practitioners in this section of the state. Of late years he had lived the life of a recluse and in the most abject poverty, shunning all contact with his fellowmen. His brother Odd Fellows of Monona had him brought to the hospital for care and treatment. Since his death the trustees of that lodge have found among his possessions proof of wealth amounting to nearly $40,000. Little is known concerning his relatives.
