Virginia Rose Schmidt

Virginia Rose Schmidt, 89, passed away on January 30, 2013, at the Elkader Care Center where she had been a resident for the past 4 years. Funeral services and burial were a private family affair.

Virginia Rose was born February 2, 1923, in Elk Township, Elkport, Iowa, the daughter of Emil and Eva (Schultz) Boehm.

Virginia married Levern Schmidt on July 20, 1960, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Elkader. He died December 12, 2010.

They lived on Levern’s family farm before moving to town.

She enjoyed country music, playing her keyboard, and doing crossword puzzles.

Survivors include her sister, Ivanelle (Eldean) Wilke of Elkader; nieces, Linette (Jim) Langhus of Monona and Lisa (David) Pope of Clear Lake; three great-nephews, Grant Langhus, Lucas Langhus, David Pope and one great-niece, Melody Pope.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
